Better for Diesel Vehicles
Biodiesel also represents a move to a fuel that is even better for diesel engines. The recent switch to Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuels in North America has resulted in a reduction in lubricity in diesel fuel. Biodiesel has significantly more lubricity than ULSD fuel and even a 5% inclusion of the fuel increases lubricity by 65%. Biodiesel is also a fantastic solvent that prevent build-up of carbon deposits in diesel engine lines. Many large diesel fleets such as JK Trucking, the Cities of Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto are realizing these benefits of biodiesel already.
Wondering if your diesel engine manufacturer believes in biodiesel? Every major producer of diesel engines now have statements regarding the use of biodiesel. Many suggest a limit of 5% biodiesel and others such as Cummins, up to 20%. Please follow the links to the right to read more. If there is an engine manufacturer you would like to read about that is not on this list, please drop us a line at info@kyotofuels.com and we’ll add their statement as well.
