As stated in the introduction the BISP is a project that monitors the feasibility/operability of biodiesel in a trucking fleet in the Canadian climate. The monitoring process includes data from onboard GPS software, the onboard Electronic Control Module (ECM) and Environment Canada.

The JK Trucking fleet is comprised of the following model years

The majority of the fleet is involved in hauling agriculture products in Alberta and Saskatchewan. In addition, a segment of the fleet that travels to the Vancouver, BC area originating from Lethbridge and Calgary Alberta. Finally, there is a segment of the fleet that travels throughout the Western United States.

The data collected from the GPS tracking software and the ECM over the wide area of travel is invigilated by Olds College to ensure the collection and interpretation process meets scientific standard.

The data points outlined will provide insight into the operability & performance of a fleet integrating a B10 blend throughout. The operability is demonstrated by the geographical location and the temperature data. Performance measurements are demonstrated by kilometers driven, fuel used, oil analysis and maintenance practice data. The remaining data reduces the variability of the results by limiting the controllable variables. For example, determining a loaded mileage percentage indicates to other fleets the loaded percentage that are attached to performance data.
